From The Moncton Times (31 Jan 1893)...
A golden wedding was celebrated at Rosevale (Albert Co.) Thursday 26th inst., being the 50th anniversary of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. John STEVENS of that place. Among those present was the only surviving sister of Mrs. Stevens, nearly 92 years of age, who drove a distance of ten miles over bad roads to join in the greetings. This aged lady, Mrs. Jane STEEVES, who has been a widow upward of twenty years, resides with her son, J. Dimock STEEVES at Hillsboro. She has certainly retained her strength and faculties to a remarkable degree for a person of her years. Mrs. Stevens made her home with her from childhood up to the time of her marriage. Mr. Stevens is in his 75th year and his wife a year younger. The eldest daughter, Mrs. L.S. ELLIOTT, who resides in Maine, kindly sent her parents a generous gift.

Mrs. Jane STEEVES of Hillsboro (Albert Co.), who lives with her son, Dimock STEEVES, is visiting Dawson at present. She was 93 years old on March 5th. This lady has certainly retained her faculties and understanding to a most remarkable degree. Her hearing is somewhat impaired, but she uses no glasses to assist her sight, which is good. When at home she keeps herself busy with knitting patchwork etc. and reads some. She cannot walk very far without getting tired but says she can take lengthy drives and enjoy them. Of a family of ten she was the eldest and all the others, with the exception of one brother, the youngest but one, have passed away. Her husband was Stephen STEEVES of Hillsboro who has been dead about 24 years. Her father's name was John GARLAND . He came over from England when he was only 11 years of age and subsequently settled in Coverdale.
