Home to the BlackBerry, temporary home of Stephen Hawking, and now home to Catherine and I.

After working in the city off and on over the past 20 years, we now live here also. Moving is done, we’re (hopefully) through the surprises of moving into a 50 year old bungalow, including two surprise plumbing leaks. The people who bought and flipped the house did some very good work in some areas. Plumbing was unfortunately not one of them, the dishwasher piping was installed wrong and leaked through to the basement discoloring the ceiling (thankfully no structural damage, and it’s painted and we know what color), the water softener was bypassed but left turned on so burnt out plus it leaked also, and the main toilet had debris thrown into it and now has a nice green crusty line that won’t come off so probably needs replacing.

Ah, the joys of moving. It wil stil be a few months before things are to the point I can get back to regular posting, so the hiatus proceeds. I continue to answer your emails and letters, no worry! :-)

Hi harry, Hope your house is getting sorted out,
Well harry we decided to stay in newfoundland, we have a nice house next to the atlantic ocean, when i last wrote to you, it was about the school in quebec, my wife cathy and me both love old quebec, and was going to move there, then go to the watchmakers school, but i have been a watchmaker since 1986, I work on pocketwatches, i was just going to the school for the quartz watches, but you only need a multi meter, and a book, so we have decided to stay in newfoundland for the moment, cathy is from toronto, and toronto was my first canadian home when coming to canada in 2004, ontario still has a strong pull for both of us, but it is beautiful and quiet here, I used to love going to st.jacobs market, With the watchmaking i buy and sell through the internet, online auctions, I work on pocketwatches from the 1600s to 1950s, I buy them repair them, then sell them on ebay, i have been a silver power seller member pollard238, for over 5 years, I just repaired and sold a verge fusee from the 1650s, untouched since the day it was made, memories, A couple of guys approached

a couple of guys approached me to help them with watchmaking, concentrating on mechanical watches, ie pockwatches, they said there is no where else to go, they had had the hassle of contacting the quebec school, plus staying away from home , so i said i would help them, i had thought if i did go back to ontario, i would open up a classroom, and teach basic watchmaking, or take it as high as people wanted, I also sell parts and tools, so i helped them with movements to open up, and the first set of tools they would need, get everything a decent price for them, plus only selling what they need, not what they dont need, i also told them to buy a set of videos or get the info emailed to them, not from me, I told them to watch the videos as a movie, do not take it all in at once, but now with my help they have someone to ask questions, someone to tell them what to buy, help with stripping down, I would have liked to be there, to be hands on with them, but they are happy with the help i am giving them, but if i did go back to ontario, i think i would open a class room up, there seems to be alot of people interested in them, How this came about is when i am selling watches and parts on ebay, they saw that i was explaining how to use the tools and parts, not just selling them, sorry for the long email,
    thanks dave

I wasn’t sure where else I could leave you a message, so here it is as a comment.

I was on another website and came across something that I thought you might find useful:

What happened to the production date calculator site?

The photo database is now here:
