Selling stuff, thoughts on 2010 watches
Well I’ve taken the plunge and actually sold stuff. Not on eBay (yet), on the Seiko Citizen Trading Forum.

I’ve also decided to be a lot pickier about watch purchases this year.
It’s both a sign of the times economically, and a sign of where I am in the cycle of collecting, that I sold these project items. What I sold is obviously stuff that cost me fairly little plus I got deals on all of it. I sold for less than it all cost me however, but I wanted to move them out and thought I might as well pass along the deals to a fellow collector! A watch with a non-original dial, one with a scratched dial, one with a sticking rotor, a hand/dial set for a Monster mod, and a few other odds and ends thrown in.
I expect to purchase far fewer watches this year, but focus more on ones I really want. Financially with lots of family expenses to take care of as the priority, I’ll still probably be sticking to something inexpensive but be much more picky about what.
The “purchase hopes” list includes items such as a vintage Seiko Silver Wave diver, that white dialed Alba Orvitax I’ve been looking for, a Citizen EcoZilla or Robert Swan, a nice 6138/6139, or a Seiko Instruments Issey Miyake Trapezoid. Maybe if things look up with the economy a bit more then a Seiko Discus Burger or Nomos Club. And of course a gift watch or two for friends. ![]()

Although I love the Blancpain Fifty Fathom, the JLC Memovox, and the IWC Vintage line, I just don’t see myself wearing these. So the “pared down” grail list contains a limited edition Grand Seiko hand wind, and a Sinn U1.
Havind said all this, of course that’s just what I think right now, things will change as they always do!
