A pale blue dot
A video that makes you think…

I saw this recently at forgetomori. The post is a “scale of the universe” type article, with a few neat points, including Mori sharing this image from Drew Olbrich showing a more accurate renditionof the relative size and position of us and our loony satellite.

Other than that, it is an interesting read, but I thought the video clip the most arresting and thought-provoking part, despite the use of so many familiar movie clips.
By the way, the title refers to our little planet, Earth. A quick summary from Wikipedia…
The Pale Blue Dot is a photograph of planet Earth taken in 1990 by Voyager 1 from a record distance, showing it against the vastness of space. Both the idea for taking the distant photo and the title came from scientist and astronomer Carl Sagan, who also wrote the 1994 book of the same name.
