Eddie Shack’s jacket

Eddie Shack played for the Stanley Cup winning teams in 1962, 1963, 1964 &1967. He scored the Cup-winning goal in 1963, saying that he had scored the goal off of his rear end, as he was just trying to get out of the way.

After the Shrine Oriental Band paraded in Ayr Ontario today, we went to the Queen’s Hotel to unwind a titch, and were joined by Eddie, who was auctioning some memorabilia for charitable fund raising purposes.

Eddie is 73 years young now, but I still wouldn’t want to mess with him, on or off the ice!

Have I mentioned before that the iPhone takes poor pictures, especially in indoor (lower light) conditions? Ah well.

It wasn’t the best crowd for the auction, consisting of us Shriners trying to sell our own stuff (Christmas cakes anyone?), and families with young children at the hotel for a meal or a drink (or both) after the Santa Claus parade. The jacket in this picture, with all the signatures and badges from some of those glory years, went for only $800. Somebody got themselves a bargain!

Recent ad from work, this one has garnered more favorable comments than the average. Probably because it’s not average. No boring “just show me a picture of the product” here!
